Get involved in Oysho Cardiff Half without needing to run

If you’ve missed out on a race entry into this year’s Oysho Cardiff Half Marathon or are simply looking for ways to soak in the atmosphere without needing to run, the good news is there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.

The team at Run 4 Wales are looking for groups and individuals to join its friendly team of Extra Milers to volunteer across race weekend on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October.

A wide range of roles are available and there’s something available for all skillsets – whether its helping on the start-finish line, handing out medals, t-shirts and other finishers items, manning the bag drop or helping to keep runners hydrated by handing out water around the course.

Corporates looking for volunteering opportunities for their team can also get involved to make a positive impact on race day.

Tor Hands, Volunteer Coordinator at Run 4 Wales, said: “The Extra Milers are vital to the success of race weekend and we’re looking for volunteers to join us in the city centre for both the Oysho Cardiff Half Junior and Half Marathon events.

“You don’t need any experience to get involved, just be enthusiastic and ready to get stuck in.

”We welcome individuals, groups and corporates and also offer employer volunteering programmes that successfully meet the needs of corporate social responsibility.

“Volunteering with Run 4 Wales allows you to have fun, learn new skills and we find that people enjoy it so much that they come back to help out again.

“Our races wouldn’t be possible without our incredible army of volunteers. We really appreciate everyone who gives up their time and we know that the runners appreciate it too.”
