Cardiff Half Marathon

Spectator Information

Thousands of people turn out to support the runners at the Oysho Cardiff Half Marathon, and there’s plenty of opportunities for them to get involved in the race-day action.

With the race growing and the elite field improving, provision for spectators has been improved in recent years to give spectators the best chance to watch some of the world’s best athletes take on the iconic route and cheer on family and friends.

Our spectator zones give everyone the best possible opportunity to see their loved ones. Head down Castle Street, away from the city centre and towards the River Taff for the best chance to catch your loved ones after they have crossed the start line, away from the congestion of the start pens. Head to Corbett Road for great views of the closing stages of the race on either side of the road, big screens, music and prize giveaways.

Principality Building Society Rainbow Roundabout: Expect a burst of colour and vibrancy as you pass this stage twice, before and after a loop of Roath Lake between miles 10 and 12. This uplifting cheer zone and celebration of diversity and inclusion is being powered by Principality and Pride Cymru.

Tiered standing terraces give spectators a fantastic view of their loved ones over the finish line on King Edward VII Avenue. You’ll want to head down early to grab yourself the best vantage point. We recommend heading down to Corbett Road and King Edward VII Avenue from 10:15am.

Disabled Access

Disabled viewing areas are available at the start (reserved area) and finish (viewing platform). Please be aware that access can be limited due to the high volume of spectators so please arrive early where possible. Viewing areas are based on a first-come, first-served basis with security present throughout the day.

Pre-paid car parking for the event is available at Cardiff City Football stadium one-mile from the start of the the race. There are no official car parks closer to the event start/finish so we encourage use of public car parks within the city wherever possible.

Limited disabled parking is available in the Glamorgan Building car park from 10:45am due to road restrictions. If you require access, please contact us on [email protected] and we will do our best to facilitate.

We are always looking for fun and entertaining acts to perform around the route, helping to boost the atmosphere for all runners taking part.

We are looking for volunteer bands, choirs, street entertainers, buskers and more to help enhance the race day atmosphere and we hope that you will be able to be a part of what is always a fun and entertaining day.

If this opportunity appeals to you (or even if it doesn’t), we’d love to hear from you. Email [email protected] for more information about how you can get involved.
